Daydream sculpture

This pensive figure may be quiet in her pose but her hair wildly moves suggesing her inner thoughts. I created the upper torso first then added the wood. The wood was from a majestic oak that the county cut down to make a sidewalk. I tried to save the tree by asking them to go around it but it was no good. The tree lives a second life in my sculpture. It is filled with small worm holes that tell the story of its life. I like the balance of the wood between the two similiar colored stones. She has a great presence.
